The development of preparations requires systematic consideration, among which equipment factors are a very important concern. Three steps are required to complete the capsule filling：opening the hollow capsule, filling the material, and locking the hollow capsule.

　　For filling equipment, according to whether the amount of filling material is related to the volume of the capsule, capsule filling equipment can be divided into capsule-dependent and non-capsule-dependent. For the former, most are manual or semi-automatic devices. Generally, the powder is directly filled into the capsule of the hollow capsule, and the volume of the capsule is used to determine the final filling amount. However, the currently widely used commercial high-speed capsule filling machine is not capsule dependent.

　　The material is measured by a special measuring device and then transferred to the hollow capsule body.

　　Manual filling

　　In the early stages of formulation development, a problem often encountered is the preparation of small batches of samples. Open the capsule shell directly, manually add the required amount of material, and then lock it. This may be the easiest way to prepare a capsule. This method has almost no requirements on the properties related to material production, as long as the capsule can hold the material.

　　The more common capsule board can fill up to 400 capsules at a time, and the skilled operator can basically complete it in about half an hour.

　　Commercial filling

　　Commercial filling equipment pursues efficient, clean and accurate automated production. Commercial filling equipment must realize the separation of the capsule and the cap of the hollow capsule (arrangement, steering and separation); the automatic control of the powder addition; the metering and filling of the powder; the locking and collection of the capsule.

　　To sum up

　　"Manufacturability" is an important factor that needs to be considered in the formulation development process. In the early development process, it is often easy to overlook production-related issues, because the general process of development starts with determining the prescription, and gradually developing and perfecting the process.

　　The production volume of early samples is often very small, which is quite different from the production on the machine; there is also a process of gradual amplification from the initial production on the machine to the final commercial production requirements;
